SOCIAL TENNIS GUIDELINES

Social Nights

Social Tennis at the Dilmun takes place three times a week from 6pm on Saturday, 6 pm on Monday and 7 pm on Wednesday.  These guidelines are designed to help everyone enjoy their tennis, maximise their time on court and socialise afterwards.

The tennis bag (Blue) is kept in Reception. A representative from the social tennis committee (or trustee) will collect the bag and adjudicate on the night’s proceedings*.

The committee will ensure that there are two cartons of new balls in the tennis bag each evening.

Annual members BD12

Non-members - Fee is 500 fils per player per night. First time only at social tennis is free. Fees must be paid and your name entered in to the diary book before you commence playing.

In order to reduce and prevent injury make sure you warm up before playing and ensure you drink plenty of water during and after the games.

Social Tennis is a doubles format. So if you are early and are playing singles stop your game as soon as there are enough to complete a doubles format.

Normally games are one set and first to reach 6 with normal deuces.  If there are any players waiting, the format changes, first to 5 and uses the new deuce format.  The winners then stay on court but split up in the next match*.

You should normally only have two consecutive games in order to allow others on.

We will try to ensure that games are arranged to suit your standard of play.

Make sure you keep your game moving. Have two balls ready to serve, keep moving between points and change ends reasonably quickly.

Make sure if you are the serving team that you let everyone know what the score is as it can cause confusion if you don’t.

If the committee member (or trustee) has to leave prior to the evening finishing, could the last player please switch off the lights and take the bag together with any remaining tennis balls back to Reception. The Committee member running that night will make sure any fees received are collected ready for banking.

Finally have fun!

Tennis is a great way to exercise, make new friends and it’s good for you.
